Kitten's nose cut, swollen, and bleeding again. Does it need a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bengal | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 27 days old | 4 lbs

My kitten bumped into a metal chair and has a little cut on the tip of its nose. It bled a little and stopped after being wipe with a wet cloth. The wound dried up the next day but her nose got bigger and swollen. Today it bled again, I think the wound opened up and her nose is still a little swollen but she hasn't been crying so I don't think it's hurting her. How can I treat her wound and swollen nose at home? Should I go to a vet? Thanks

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I’m sorry to hear Jamie isn’t doing well. I would be concerned due to the swelling that there may be an infection (abscess) or other underlying issue that would need to be addressed. I would recommend she be evaluated by her regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause of her swelling, have any necessary testing done (X-rays, needle aspirate), and start any treatment that she may need (antibiotics, anti-inflammatories). Good luck!
