My puppy has coccidia & UTI. Is Albon the correct treatment for both?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 29 days old | 4 lbs

My puppy (8 weeks) has coccidia and a UTI. He was given a prescription of Albon, he weighs 5lbs, and it's a 5-day treatment. 2.5mL on day one and then 1.5mL once for the next four days. Will this treatment help with his UTI and Coccidia? Should I make adjustments to treat accordingly?

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. The albon is for treatment of coccidia and will not treat a UTI. Was the UTI confirmed? It is unusual to see such a young dog get a UTI. I would have the urine tested if it has not been tested already. An antibiotic such as clavamox would be used to treat the infection. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
