My dog is throwing up green bile, lethargic, and stretching. Emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rat Terrier | Male | neutered | 3 years and 4 months old | 18 lbs

My dog started throwing up 10 hours ago. It started white foam but now it's green bile. He's lathargic but he is drinking. He isn't eating even white rice. He is also laying on his front legs only like he's stretching. He doesn't seem to be able to focus on anything. We have had a lot of spiders around our house. Could he be bit?

I really doubt this is a reaction to a spider bite. Those are usually local reactions to the skin only. This sounds more like he may have an intestinal obstruction or something going on internally. Stretching like that is relieving some pain/pressure in his abdomen. Any chance he ate something he was not supposed to? i suggest you get him to a vet ASAP. I would consider this an emergency. If there is an obstruction this could be fatal if left too long untreated. If it is not an obstruction at least you can get him some proper medications to get him some relief.
