My cat is vomiting and has bloody diarrhea. Is a second vet opinion needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 5 lbs

This is about the 1 1/2 yr old cat with no shots vomitting . I took him to a vet but am afraid wasn't helpful he's still committing and has diarrhea with what looks like blood in the stool. They gve him 2 deworming shots an iv shot a flea shot and poop test that came back negative. But that was it all I got was keep him hydrated and come back for his 2nd round of shots. I feel like there's still something wrong should I get a 2nd opinion. What if its cat parvo or something else?

If you're not happy with how the first vet took care of things, and Ojitos is still vomiting and having diarrhea I would most definitely seek out another veterinarian for care. It could be that there is an underlying viral or bacterial illness like you suspect, and he may need hospitalization or subcutaneous fluids as well as injections to help with the vomiting in addition to any other medications to treat the underlying issue. You can try to offer a bland diet of some boiled chicken and rice, or even some low-sodium chicken broth to try and keep him hydrated/eating/drinking, however if this is continuing or he is acting very ill it is best to seek out veterinary care ASAP.
