Female budgie breathing sounds like a blocked nose. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | unspayed

Hello. I have 2 budgies, one of them 3 years old(male) and the other 2(female). The female one makes a sound while breathing as if she has a blocked nose. She doesn't do that all the time but sometimes it becomes too loud and I get worried. She is not a singer normally, she sings but not too often, while the male sings all the time but now, in my opinion, female become quiter. She eats normally, she moves normally but I dont know the breathing problem. Can you help me please? I am so scared..

I am sorry Pearl is not feeling well. I would recommend taking Pearl to the vet for a good physical exam. My concern is that birds can get upper respiratory infections and sinus issues. If the nasal passage is blocked a vet can usually flush the sinus and use antibiotics to help. Hopefully Pearl is not sick but I would recommend having a vet look at Pearl to be on the safe side. Hope she feels better soon
