My 10 year old lab has been put on Tramadol 100mg x3 daily from yesterday for arthritis. He had X-ray under GA. He is v unhappy, crying, lethargic, terrible smelly wind, and drooling. I took him back to vet today who examined him. Temperature ok eyes ok. Said to reduce dose to twice daily. Could he be allergic to Tramadol? He's just so sad and totally out of sorts. Thanks

Hello, I am so sorry for your concerns about Fergus. Yes, he could be sensitive to the Tramadol. Some people can not stand the medication at all. I hope he is already receiving a nonsteroidal antiinflammatroy medication, like meloxicam or carprofen. If he needs something more for pain, I would try Gabapentin. This has worked quite well for many dogs. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach & I hope Fergus is feeling better soon. Take care.
