Why is my dog suddenly wobbling, having accidents, and not eating?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | 7 years and 6 months old

Hi my dog is a very healthy dog but recently he hasn’t been eating unless you stand right over him. Yesterday I can home and found he diarrhead and peed a lot all over a room which he knows he is not supposed to be in and never has gone in. A few days later that same thing happened that morning. We took him potty 3 times that morning before he had the accident and he went all times. I also noticed he would wobble and fall over when he went to the bathroom outside. Also he doesn’t get human food.

I would recommend that Blaiser be examined by a vet. The symptoms you have mentioned could certainly be behavioral (sudden accidents in the house, only eating when you are near), but the wobbly appearance could indicate an internal medical illness, cancer, or neurologic disease. After a thorough physical exam, the vet may perform a neurologic exam to pick up on any subtle neurologic deficiencies. The vet may also recommend bloodwork to look for anemia, infection, liver or kidney disease, or electrolyte imbalances, all of which could cause symptoms such as you have described.
