My dog is limping lightly. Vet gave painkillers, what's the cause?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Labrador | Female | unspayed | 5 years and 7 months old | 90 lbs

3 days before, my lab weighing 45kgs started limping lightly. I took her to the local vet. They saw and said that there is nothing major, lets give painkiller for 3 days and still if problem persists, we will go for x-ray. What is possibly the reason ? Is it a cramp or sprain ?

It could be that Jenny has a ligament strain, a muscle strain, or she could have torn a ligament. It sounds like your vet is trying a conservative treatment first to see if that helps before doing additional testing, which is a normal way of approaching a limping dog. I would follow the vet's instructions and see if she improves or not. I hope this helps!
