My dog ate or licked an American toad. Is it toxic? What to do?

Is it bad if my dog ate or licked an american toad?!

Sometimes it can be bad, but it really depends. They can secrete a toxin that is irritating and sometimes toxic, but it depends on the species and how scared they are at that time (they secrete the toxin more when they are scared). You would know if he got any toxin, because they usually start drooling and constantly licking within a couple of minutes of getting the toxin. If you see this, then wash his mouth out with water using a hose for 5 minutes. The toxin can also make them hallucinate, so he may act a little off; but if he acts very lethargic or has tremors, then he should go to the vet immediately for monitoring and treatment.
