Why is my cat losing hair above his eye without itching or redness?

My cat his having little dot on his skin just on top of his eyes. It does not itch or anything to him.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It does look like he has a small patch without hair. However, if it is not associated with itchiness, redness, discharge or a mass effect, I would continue to monitor him unless you notice any other symptoms like the ones described above. It may be just a periodic loss of hair which he will recover from uneventfully. Good luck and have a good night!

    This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). There is some redness underneath the fur, which may indicate an inflammation and not only a physiological shedding. A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths (be careful not to touch the eye with any of these solutions). Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching (if any).
