My dog's penis is bleeding. Is a vet visit necessary for this injury?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | unneutered | 4 years and 9 months old | 86 lbs

My dog is bleeding from the side of his penis, we’re not sure how it happened if it was our other dog or he got hurt own his own playing around should we take him to the vet or let it heal by it’s self?

I’m sorry Rambo is hurt! If there is a chance of a bite wound then he should be evaluated by a veterinarian. Almost all bite wounds will become infected if not cleaned well and started on antibiotics. Depending on how severe it is they may recommend stitches and dog safe pain medication. Good luck to Rambo. I hope he improves quickly.
