Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | 1 month and 8 days old | 4 lbs
I have a 6 weeks old male Dachshund I used to give him Cerelac but he used to have lose motions. Today I took him to local vet who gave him parvo vaccine and told me to only give him 1 spoon ORS solution after every half hour, and again consult him tomorrow morning. I feel my dog is feeling very weak and hungry. Please suggest some solution till tomorrow morning. Should I keep him on ORS or what else can I give him?

Submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites or bacterial overgrowth. Puppies require several dewormings to clear parasite infections. A SNAP test can be done in the clinic to rule out parvovirus infection. Cerelac contains grains which can be healthy, but puppies need protein. Offer an appropriate puppy milk replacer such as Esbilac or PetLac instead. You can mix it with a quality puppy food to make a slurry or gruel. Continue with the electrolyte replacement beverage to prevent mild dehydration. Recheck with your vet if the soft stool does not resolve.
