My budgie's wing is bleeding and shaking. Should I take her to a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | 6 years and 9 months old | 3.02 lbs

One of our budgies attacked the other one and now she is bleeding on her left wing. The feathers are gone on the wound site, she can't close her wing properly, and her wing is shaking. We have removed her from the cage to a pet carrier. I would like to know what to do. And if I need to take her to the Vet. We are planning on taking her to the Vet, but I want to make sure it's necessary.

If he is continually bleeding, then it's best to get him to a vet as soon as possible, because they can't afford to lose too much blood. If the bleeding has stopped and he is eating/drinking OK, then you can wait for 24 hours and see if there is any improvement with how he holds his wing. Sometimes they initially will hold it like this and it will shake due to the pain and not a fracture. If it doesn't seem better after a day, then I would get it checked out by a veterinarian to see if there is any serious damage. I hope that helps and Rainbow gets better soon.
