Should I add my kitten's panleukopenia antibiotic to his IV drip?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered

My 6 month old kitten has been diagnosed with panleukopenia. The doctor has given him antibiotic oxidil IM and drip rehydration. Now the problemis, he has asked me to go to the clinic everyday butufortuately i canot make ot to the clinic one day. The cat's branula is in place, and the drip bag is halfway complete. Since i dont know how to give IM antibiotic and he needs antibiotics, can i put IV oxidil into his drip fluid only for today? And if yes how much?

I am so sorry that Kevin has Panleuk. Unfortunately, if you try putting the antibiotic in the fluids, you will ruin what is left of the fluids. And, without knowing exactly how much of the fluids are left ( do you have a 250 ml bag, a 500 bag, or a liter bag ? ), & the mg/ml strength of the Oxidil, no one could calculate what you ask. If you can not make it to the clinic for one day, I would just wait for the following day to continue his treatment. This will not impact his overall treatment & recovery. Hopefully, he will make a full recovery very soon. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Take care.
