My dog had no water for a day while I was on vacation. Is he okay?

Ok 2 days ago we left for vacation. We told our cousin to check up and feed our dog for one day. She didn’t show up. Our dog had no water for one whole day. When we got home later the next day we gave him some water and he drank it fast. When we got home he was jumpy and and excited to see us like he wasn’t even thirsty at all. He seems fine now. He is drinking and eating like normal. Should I still be concerned?

If he seems to be back to his normal self I would not worry. Dogs can tolerate a day without water if the environment where they live is not too warm. I would not recommend to leave him without water regularly, as it would put a strain on his body but as a one off episode there is not much to worry about. There also are some useful dog water bowls that have a reservoir of water that gradually fills up the water bowl, you could try them out if planning to stay out for long hours.
