My 2-month-old puppy has a sudden, non-painful neck lump. What is it?

Pet's info: Dog | Saint Bernard | Male | neutered | 1 month and 21 days old | 85 lbs

I have a 2 month old Saint Bernard puppy who has a huge hard bump on the one side of his neck. It doesn't bother him at all when I touch it and when I move the fur to look it looks like normal skin. It appears within 25-30 minutes because before I was petting him and there was nothing

This lump in your puppy’s skin is probably nothing to worry about. It could be from an insect bite or sting or may be a reaction to a vaccine he had in that area. Keep an eye on it for now. If it becomes larger, painful, or red, then take him to your vet right away. Or if he starts acting lethargic, vomits/has diarrhea or stops wanting to eat, you should take him to be checked out. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.

Hi Shania! This marble sized lump could be a benign tumor, which can happen in puppies. Typically they are harmful, but because I can't see Albus in person, I can't say for certain if he does have a benign tumor causing the lump. It's always best to have any lumps and bumps checked out by the vet, and I recommend taking him into one in the next couple of days. The vet can diagnose what is causing this lump, and what (if any) treatment is needed for it. I hope this helps!
