My spayed female kittens are humping and wrestling. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 7 months old | 9.5 lbs

I have two bonded female kittens from the same litter. (7 months) They are constantly wrestling and humping each other. Is this normal? They are both fixed, but maybe they still have those "get it on" hormones floating around?

Humping, especially in fixed females is just a show of dominance. They are trying to figure out who is boss. As they get older this may decrease but in some siblings may occasionally happen for years. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
