Hello, Kane should be having flea medications applied to him every month. I would recommend using something with a growth regulator that not only kills adult fleas but also kills premature stages such as Advantage II, Advantix II, or Frontline Plus. You can also use a fast adulticide for fleas such as Capstar. When treating you pet, you should also treat your environment with environmental insecticides for fleas and ticks. Treat your environment at least once weekly for 1 month. Kane, may need antibiotics for his skin if he has developed a secondary skin infection. Best of luck and hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for using Petcoach! Poor Kandy Kane! A lot of different skin conditions can look the same. A rash could be from a skin infection from bacteria or yeast, demodex (non-contagious mite), or ring worm. A skin infection is treated with antibiotics or antifungals if from yeast. Mites are diagnosed on skin scrape and can be treated with the new oral flea and tick medications (Nexgard, Bravecto) and ring worm is diagnosed by culture and treated with antifungals. You can try a medicated shampoo but if there is no improvement I recommend having your Vet take a look. Shampoo him 2-3 times per week and let the lather sit on the skin for 10 mins before rinsing. I hope this helps and I wish Kane a speedy recovery! http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=27307
