My dog has fleas despite prevention. Can they lay eggs? What now?

Hi, my dog (whippet) is 7 years old and gets flea & tick prevention every month (ampule ADVOCATE now) and even though he got the ampule 3 weeks ago, for the first time he returns from his daily walk having 2-3 adult fleas on his legs. Can these fleas lay eggs having in mind that he receives the prevention regularly? What should I do? Thank you!!!

Unfortunately toward the last week of the month these ampules sometimes wear off, meaning your dog can have fleas and the fleas can lay eggs, but as long as you treat him regularly those eggs and any reaming fleas will be killed.
