Why does my dog have bloody, pus-filled bumps and hair loss?

I have an 8 yr old Pit Bull that has an area about 2-3" round that has bloody puss filled blister like bumps on the back of his neck, and area has hair loss too. Around that area there are crusty bumps, scab like, that still have hair. They are in random spots close to this one area. It started out as a tiny spot that scabbed over and that came off and area has grown to the 3" area now in about 2 weeks. I took his collar off and used hot spot meds on it with no results. Help please. Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 125 lbs

This definitely looks like a skin infection and pretty deep. Unfortunately, topical over the counter medications are probably not going to be enough to clear this up. Dozer will need to see your veterinarian to get the right prescription antibiotic to treat this properly.
