My dog has bloody diarrhea after antibiotics. Is this serious?

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 70 lbs

My dog had had diarrhea for the past fee days and just today there was blood in his diarrhea. He is in good spirts and not affected by it. He recently came off anti biotics for kennel cough, what could be going on

You may want to feed him a bland diet of boiled chicken (no skin, no bones) and rice for the next few days until the diarrhea resolves. Once he is feeling better, you can gradually transition him to his regular diet.

    Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could potentially be a side effect of the antibiotic. Keep a close eye on him. If it continues despite te antibiotics being discontinued, have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment. Good luck!
