When and how to wean 4-week-old kittens not eating solid food?

My cat tilly had kittens 4 weeks ago, they are still feeding but not as much, I'm just wondering how i go with weaning them off. Can i give them kitten milk now or do i have to wait? I've tried giving them some kitten food and they smell it and walk away, I've tried this three times now. I'm not to sure what to do.

Great questions! It's fine to start weaning them now. To help them wean and to get used to dry food, I would soak a high quality kitten formulated dry food in warm water until soft. Then mix that with kitten formula such as KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two weeks, gradually increase the amount of dry kitten food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until they are eating the dry kitten food only. I hope this helps!

Feed them at least three to four times a day. Keep them separated from Mercedes to wean them. She can go into heat anytime now. I hope this helps!

My cat had kittens 4 weeks ago and she is still licking their butts so they haven't pooped on there own AT ALL. I am positive about this. Should I do something? Also, she was eating some wet food and just be being curious I got a tiny bit on my finge
At four weeks of age, they should start pooping on their own and being weaned onto kitten food. To help them wean and to get used to dry food, I would soak a high quality kitten formulated dry food in warm water until soft. Then mix that with kitten formula such as KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two weeks, gradually increase the amount of dry kitten food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until they are eating the dry kitten food only. As for not pooping on their own, give it another week to see if they become more independent. If they don't, have them seen by a vet. Best of luck.

What's the best way to wean a kitten off milk?
Good question. Typically you want to wean a kitten between three and four weeks of age. And you do so by mixing have milk with half canned food for several days and then slowly increasing the canned food amount throughout the rest of the week. If the kitten doesn't seem interested in the canned food at first, you can put a little on your finger to try and entice her. Then if you wish for your kitth to be on dry food, you slowly mix the canned food with dry kibble slowly over the following week. A kitten's eye will be fully open around three weeks of age, so if Stella's eyes are fully open and she can see, she will be at least three weeks old. How long can I keep giving my kitten formula
Kittens can be offered canned and dry kitten food starting around 4-5 weeks of age. To transition the kitten to dry food, you can make a gruel with it and the formula for a few days, offering dry food in a separate dish. Many kittens go right to the dry food. Once your kitten is eating the canned and/or dry food readily and gaining weight, you can stop feeding formula. Many kittens will wean themselves once they are eating solid food.
