My dog got Interceptor Plus and Heartgard Plus a week apart. Is he okay?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 5 years and 10 months old | 75 lbs

I've given my 75lb german shepherd 2 doses: 1 dose today of interceptor plus (23 mg milbemycin/228 mg praziquantel) and 1 dose of Heartgard plus (272 mcg ivtermectin/227 mg pyrantel) 1 week ago. Is he going to be ok?

Hello and thanks you for your post on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach this afternoon! Yes, this should be okay. Although both are oral heart worm and intestinal parasite preventatives and typically speaking, giving two heart worm preventatives together or within a short amount of time is not recommended, combining these two preventatives together accidentally one week apart should not result in a negative reaction. Sam may have some transient diarrhea or vomiting, however. I hope this helps put your mind at ease and best wishes to you and Sam!
