My dog has a bleeding paw lesion between toes. Is Paw Guard effective?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 60 lbs

Hi, my dog has a concerning lesion in the paw area (beetween her fingers) and it’s bleeding when she walk on it. It almost look like a cut but it’s not. It doesn’t hurt her even when we touch it. I would like to know if the « four paws, paw guard with lanolin » will be efficient. Thank you.

It actually looks like a wart but it difficult for me to say just by looking at a photo. It could also be the beginning of a tumor. This does not appear to be an injury or a crack from dryness so I don't think the Paw Guard will be much help. She really should see a vet for this issue. I don't think it's an emergency but I would try to take her for an exam in the next week or so. In the meantime you should apply a triple antibiotic ointment like Neosporin (not the one with pain medication in it, just the plain one).
