My 4-month-old Golden Retriever puppy stinks. How often to bathe?

How often can i bath my olie golden retriever 4 months old.... I give her bath once in a week or twice a month.. When i feel like she is stinking... Kindly help me.

Hello, than you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. You can bathe Olie once or twice a week, or as often as needed to keep her smelling fresh. Use a mild pet shampoo that does not have detergents & you will not dry out her coat. Take care.

    You typically can bathe dogs once a week unless they got into something and are dirty, then they can have an extra bath if needed. Some people do twice a week but you have to be careful to watch for dry skin. A bath is the best way to remove odor from them but they do make leave on conditioners and dog boy sprays that are scented that you can use in a rush to help. Cleaning the remains from the yard and cleaning the house with a fabric safe product can help with the odor. Wash all the blankets and beddings can also make a big difference

Lido is a rescued puppy that should have between 3 to 4 months. We hace noticed that she has a strong odor... althought she is always inside the house and is frequently bathed. We have another dog and and the case is the opposite, she always smells
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is interesting as usually puppies do smell pretty good. I’d have her checked out by a veterinarian to make sure it’s not something like a yeast infection in the ear (or anywhere else) and to check the mouth and anal glands. Otherwise be sure to use a shampoo made for dogs as the acidity of a dogs skin is much different than human skin and human soaps can actually be unhealthy for dogs. Bathe up to once a week but NOT more often (unless your vet says otherwise). There are also scented wipes and sprays that have help them smell good. Hope his helps and best of luck to you and Lido!

How often should you bathe your pup/dog? So far I've only bathed him once and that was due to him rolling in his poop.
Hi there! Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Even though you could potentially bathe him once monthly, this is generally not needed and you could do it every other month. You could consider waterless shampoo which you can get at your local pet store. This allows you to bathe him without the use of water at times that he gets dirty like that in between regular baths. I have been bathing my puppy 2 times a week because she gets stinky. Is that bad? Should I just bathe her once a week? And what kinds of shampoos should I use? Right now I'm using Hartz tearless puppy shampoo is that ok?
I typically recommend bathing no more than once every week or every 2 weeks unless there is a skin condition requiring frequent medicated baths. If Luna’s skin is not becoming dried out or irritated the frequency of bathing and the type of shampoo you are using is probably fine. If Luna is itchy, her skin is red or flakey, or if she has an unusual odor, she may have a skin condition. If this is the case she needs to have an examination done by your veterinarian to address her skin issues. She may need a medicated shampoo and antibiotics or an antifungal medication to help clear up the infection. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Boop by Petco. Best of luck.

Hi! Bathing is good to do for Honey about once a week, using a gentle shampoo for dogs. Excessive bathing can dry out Honey's skin, getting rid of natural oils that make their coat soft and healthy which may cause more harm than good. I have a golden retriever puppy and whichever room he enter has this typical bad odor after some time.
This could just be a normal "dog" smell and he may need a bath. Make sure you use a puppy shampoo. Also some dogs will express their anal glands (2 glands one on each side of anus that help to lubricste bowel movements) if they get nervous or if they are full and smell really bad. Your vet clinic should be able to express these for you. Also dogs that have yeast or bacterial infections in the ears or skin could also be the reason for the odor so if the bath or anal glands expression doesn't help then I would have your vet do an exam to make sure there isn't an infection somewhere. Hi there and thanks for using Boop by Petco! It is true that over bathing may cause dryness and can be irritating to the skin. However, sometimes dogs with skin allergies and bathed very frequently and it actually helps them. So you may need to monitor Bear and see if frequent bathing causes any dryness or redness to his skin. There are several products on the market that are more like dry shampoo or mousse that you could brush through Bear's coat to eliminate some of the dirt and odor. If necessary you can also bathe Bear every one to two weeks, but please do it less frequently if you notice any dryness or redness of the skin related to bathing.

How often do I bath a Doberman pinscher puppy?
Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Puppies tend to get into things and get dirty when eating or outside. I would advise spot bathing any areas that need immediate attention, but I would space out bathing as much as possible. Too frequent bathing can dry out the skin and haircoat and cause other problems. I advise getting an oatmeal shampoo without soap or detergent for maintenance bathing. Leave the lather on for 10 minutes and rinse really well. Dried shampoo on the skin and haircoat can be very irritating. I would try to space out the baths to every 4 or more weeks. You could use waterless shampoo or some bath wipes in between bathing. Good luck

I give my pup a shower every month..but is there something i shall do . cause i go walk with him every day ....and some times he get a little bit dirty.. What shall i do??? Can i clean him with a wet cloth ???
I would recommend bathing him every 2-4 weeks as needed to prevent overdrying of the skin. An oatmeal based puppy shampoo is great to use. Then in between baths you can use puppy wipes which are found at your local pet store. This works wel to my overdry your pet but also keep him smelling fresh. : ) I hope this helps!
