Why is my cat hiding, not eating, and constantly licking her rear?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | unspayed | 9 years and 8 months old | 5 lbs

Lacey has eaten drank only small amounts within the last 3 days. She is hiding under my covered bedside table. Only comes out to go to litter box. I have noticed her licking her rear. She will come out at night to sleep with me. What could be wrong?

It sounds like Lacey doesn't feel well. Cats can get infections of their anal sacs, which are around their rear end. If she is licking a lot then that is a possible cause. Of course many other problems could be going on as well. I would really recommend that she be seen by a veterinarian. They can determine in something is wrong with her rear end, and if so recommend a treatment plan. I hope she improves quickly! Thank you for using Pet Coach.
