Should we see a vet about getting this treated? It looks like a wart to me, and everything I’ve read says warts will probably go away on their own, but we need to board our dog in the next few weeks and I want to make sure it’s not something communicable. It’s located on the inside of his back leg, and my understanding is that warts tend to develop on the mouth? Is there anything we can do to help it heal? Thanks!

Hello, & thank you or using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Warts may or may not disappear on their own, & they can appear anywhere on a dogs body. True warts are the result of a very specific papilloma virus, & fortunately they are totally not contagious. It is always a good idea to have your veterinarian investigate any new or changing lumps, bumps, & nodules Zeus may develop, but it should not impact your boarding plans in the coming weeks. Take care.
