Why is my cat walking flat-footed and vomiting? Is it diabetes?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed

My cat is seeming to show signs of diabetes, but I can't really tell.. She isn't walking exactly "flat-footed", but she doesn't walk on her "tippy toes". I cannot tell if she is overweight, but it does seem like it, and she also vomits quite a bit. I'm only 16, so I can't really do anything to help at the moment with no job or car, as of writing this, it is 10PM, and my mom is asleep. I'm not sure how long this has been going on, but after reading articles, it might have been for a while..

Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am sorry for your concerns about Jazz. The only good way to tell if she has diabetes is with a very simple blood test. Ask your mom to take you & Jazz to the vet tomorrow, & you can find out for sure. Hopefully, all will be well. Take care.
