Why is my dog's yellow/orange soft poop not improving after vet meds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dalmatian | Male | unneutered

My dog's been popping yellow/orange soft poop. Took him to vet 2 times and they just kept recommending higher dose. And the current med (since last 2 days) has made his poop worse/watery. When i was not givin him medicine his poop consistency was soft & yellow but not watery. He's acting and eating normal. Could this be liver problem or smth more serious? Cause his poop colour ain't right since last 1 month and no meds is workin. Ps. The dr hasn't done any stool test, deworming med given already

The color of the stool is usually associated with something they are eating, but the yellow/orange color can sometimes be associated with liver disease. Since Marley does not seem to be responding to previous medical treatments, I would recommend that you discuss additional diagnostics with your vet. I would start with an intestinal parasite screening, and if that is negative, move on to bloodwork and/or a GI panel (specialized bloodwork). Occasionally all labs can be normal and surgical or endoscopic intestinal biopsies are needed.
