My new Labrador puppy bites during training. Is it risky if mom wasn't vaccinated?

I brought new Labrador puppy and I don't know whether it's mother is vaccinated or not.will it causes any problem to me if puppy bites me when giving training?

Congrats on your new puppy! It likely won't cause you any problems if Snow bites you when training, but you should discourage it because it's not appropriate behavior. Be sure to get his vaccines as soon as possible, and I would check with his previous owners to find out his mother's vaccine status.

Since your dog has the full course of vaccinations and hopefully a rabies vaccination also, there should be no problem in that case. However you need to go see a doctor with your hand as it already looks infected. There are bacteria on dogs' teeth and since your dog broke the skin it is likely that bacteria were introduced and cause an infection. Please be seen at a hospital or a doctor's office today.

Tiger needs to get his vaccines as soon as possible. A puppy should first get them when they are 6-8 weeks old, and needs a total of three series of them spaced four weeks apart so they are fully vaccinated at 14-16 weeks of age. I recommend having Tiger seen by a vet as soon as possible to get his first series of vaccines. Because he is older when he's first having them done, he will only need a booster of them in four weeks, and then he will need to be revaccinated in a year. As for training, I would put him into a puppy preschool or work with a professional behavioral expert when he is vaccinated. That will teach him how to interact appropriately with humans and other animals, and you will learn basis commands for him. In terms of nutrition, he should be fed a puppy formulated food. I recommend Hills Science diet or Royal Canin. He should be fed three times a day (morning, noon, evening) until he is six months old, and then he should be fed twice a day. Feed him according t

I don't think you have to worry about either disease at this stage however, it is always best to check with a human physician. By law, we really cannot recommend any treatment for human conditions. You can start training as early as 8 weeks of age. Hope this helps. Happy Holidays!

Hi, thank you for using Boop by Petco. At 8 weeks old the puppy will still need to be vaccinated, as it has probably only had 1 or 2 distemper parvo vaccinations. He likely has not received a rabies vaccination this young. Please see a doctor about your bite wound. Puppies will normally bite while playing, but he needs to be redirected to biting a more appropriate toy. If he is truly aggressive at 8 weeks of age, he needs significant intervention with a reputable positive reinforcement dog trainer or veterinary behaviourist.

Getting him neutered will help with some of the behavior but training will be needed also. Discourage him from jumping by keeping him on a leash and pulling him back every time he does it. When he bites tell him no and give him something acceptable to chew on instead like a toy or bone. Consistency is the key with behavior.

This can be very common behavior for young puppies. It is important that you initiate training with your dog now so that his aggressive tendencies do not continue into adulthood. Somethings you can do to discourage his nipping and aggressive behavior are to try and redirect his aggression by giving him a toy to play with and bite on instead of using your hands and fingers. Also, when he missed behaves firmly tell him no, put him down and walk away and ignore him for 2 to 3 minutes. After that time you can start playing with him again and if his bad behavior returns ignore him again. If you continue to do this he will quickly learn that when he misbehaves you will not pay attention to him so he should stop the bad behavior. It would also be beneficial to start training him with basic commands like sit, stay, and come. This will help establish your role as the dominant one in the relationship. If he is no longer nursing, then he isn’t getting antibodies from Mom anymore so he will need to start his vaccine series earlier than usual. Also, he may not learn the social cues that Mom teaches during this time. He can, however, learn those by participating in a puppy play group . Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Any bite from an unvaccinated animal puts you at risk for Rabies. Getting antibodies from the mother's milk is not enough protection. If the puppy has been indoors and not bitten by an unvaccinated animal it is VERY unlikely that it has Rabies. IF Dachie has Rabies he will die or show symptoms with in 10 days, if that happens you should seek immediate rabies treatment. You should be fine to wait the 10 days. Isolate and quarantine the puppy. It is good you have had the Rabies vaccine and you are likely protected but everyone's immune system is different. If you were bitten by a rabid animal you would be treated regardless of your own vaccine history but it is less involved. Have all your dogs Rabies vaccinated when age appropriate.
