Puppy whimpering and not herself after flea pill. Is she sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

my dog Annie is a very hyper puppy and we gave her a pill for fleas last night and now she’s changed. she keeps leading my mom and I to a pile of blankets in which she lays and whimpers/whines. they’re isn’t any marks or places in case she could’ve gotten hurt, so we don’t know what else it could be. we tried giving her her favorite toy and she just took it to the pile of blankets and laid down with it. what’s going on with her?

I am so sorry that Annie is not herself. From what you are describing it sounds as though Annie may be having a reaction to the flea medication. I would advise calling the veterinarian who prescribed it to discuss what you are observing, they may wish to have her back in for an examination. In the meantime, you can provide her with a bland and easily digested meal of boiled boneless chicken breast and steamed white rice in case the pill has upset her gastrointestinal tract.
