My puppy is scratching and unwell. What home remedies can I try?

My puppy is scratching since morning and now feeling low. What can i do at home. Any remedy available? I cannit visit vet right now.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I'm sorry to hear Fluffy is having skin issues. I would check to see if Fluffy has any fleas or ticks in her fur that could be contributing to her behavior. I would also see if she has any sores or lesions. If she does, I would recommend she be evaluated by her regular veterinarian, as she may need antibiotics if her skin is infected. In the meantime, I would bathe her in a gentle dishwasher soap (such as Dawn), ensure you remove all soap from her fur while rinsing her, and gently dry her to see if that helps. Good luck!

    You can give Coco an oatmeal bath to help soothe her skin. Take a cup of oatmeal, and put it in the blender to make a fine powder. Then add it to a warm bath. That should help temporarily. Have her seen by a vet in the morning to diagnose and treat the cause of the itching.

This is a procedure used to detect the presence of mites within the hair follicles of the dog. If this is the case, she will need a medication to control the mites. You can try a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula to improve skin quality. The other option is to try a follicular flushing shampoo such as benzoyl peroxide formula. This will help if mites are the cause. However, she would still need a prescription medication. Our puppy has dry patchy skin and scratches all the time, she was born Dec 2 2017 and is a pamaranian weiniedog mix. We got her yesterday, 1/26/18. What can we do to help her dry skin and itching?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly due to allergies. Given her young age, I would suspect that if that is the case it could be due to flea allergies. Another possibility is something like mange. This is something your veterinarian would check with a physical examination and basic diagnostics like a skin scrape and cytology. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing her allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 mo

My dog has a terrible rash
I recommend a cleansing bath in a hypoallergenic shampoo like aloe and oatmeal. You can also give Benadryl to control the itching. There is a section on this website that has dosages for common over the counter medications. You can try to bathe her with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula as this can help to soothe the skin. Hi, my puppy has been scratching all day. I think he has allergies. What home remedies could I do? The vet only gave him antibiotics. Doesnt work :(
You can try giving Toby an oatmeal bath, that may temporarily help soothe his skin. Unfortunately it's illegal for me to recommend using any OTC drugs without seeing him in person, I can't say it's safe. If he's still really itchy on Monday, take him back into the vet. Best of luck.

You should try soothing oatmeal shampoo (can be by TropiClean or Burt's Bees - both available online and at pet shops) - it will give Flip some relief. Once your vet is fully open, please take Flip for an appointment as he may need a prescription-only shampoo or anti-allergic tablets.
