Can a new puppy be safe from Parvo in one room after a death?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Spitz | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old

If i buy a puppy and planning to put it only inside my room, is it enough to take him/her away from Parvo Virus? Because a week ago my Shih Tzu died because of Parvo. And take note that what im planning to buy is a Labrador. Is it okay for the dog to put the puppy only inside my room?

No that will not be safe enough for the puppy. Even if that dog wasn't in your room, you could have brought the virus into your room on your shoes and clothes. Your entire home needs to be thoroughly disinfected before getting another dog. I recommend getting a puppy around 4 months of age who has all their vaccines to prevent them from getting parvo.
