Hello again. I recently asked a question. My hamster is scratching, a lot. She is also losing fur around her belly and back, and when I wake her up she's in a sweat. She refused her favorite treat, and I think I'm noticing her getting skinnier. I don't know what to do! She is a winter white dwarf, and her name is Winter. She is also 2 years old. I've had her for my birthday when I turned 10, and I love her so much. I kiss her, can that infect me?

I am very sorry winter is not feeling well. I would recommend taking her to a vet due to the weight loss and hair changes. Typically hamsters do not carry disease like infect people but I would recommend discussing that with the vet at her visit. I would be concerned about possible dental disease, skin infection, skin parasites or even internal disease. Winter really needs a good exam to determine the cause and provide proper treatment. hope that helps

Oh goodness. It sounds like he isn’t feeling well. He may be biting because he doesn’t feel well or is painful. Infections, organ disease, or cancer could be causing those clinical signs. It sounds like he needs to see a veterinarian, however from what you describe the conversation may include a discussion about humane euthanasia. I’m sorry he is so sick. Take care.
