Great question! Many flea collars are not safe to use on nursing dogs, and it doesn't say on the package insert this can be used on a nursing dog. I would therefore not use it. Instead, I would put Revolution on her. This is a spot on treatment that is labeled as safe for use on nursing dogs. I hope this helps!

    I would NOT use sentinel in a nursing or lactating animal. The only two flea and tick drugs that I know of that are labeled for this are Frontline and Bravecto. Bravecto is prescription only and must be obtained through a veterinarian. Of note, most breeders won't even use those two anyway due to the increased risk of side effects to the puppies.

Hi there. I don't typically recommend flea collars for lactating (nursing) females. Oral medications like capstar are considered safe for lactating mothers and are relatively inexpensive. Other medications are available through your vet that are safe for nursing mothers. Please don't purchase other over the counter medications for your female-some of them can be quite dangerous. Hi can a nursing dog be given Nitenpyram?
Yes, Capstar (nitenpyram) is labeled as being safe for use in pregnant and lactating dogs. Just remember that Capstar will quickly kill adult fleas, but will not provide lasting flea prevention against hatching flea eggs or maturing flea larvae. K9 Advantix II is also labeled as being safe for pregnant and lactating dogs and will provide month-long flea prevention, but you would need to closely monitor the puppies to keep them away from the areas of medicine application. Revolution (a spot on treatment) and Capstar (a one time pill) are both approved for use in lactating dogs. I'd give Bella Capstar, which will start killing the fleas in 30 minutes, and then following up with Revolution. You cannot use any flea treatment on the puppies unfortunately, they are still too young. The only solution is to try to remove the fleas manually. Gently bathe the puppies in warm water, using your hand to support their heads and keeping them above water. Don't use any products, just warm water (at the same temperature you'd bathe a baby), and scoop water over their backs until wet. Then gently dry them with a soft towel. Use a flea comb to groom the puppies coats and remove fleas. Flea combs have teeth that are very close together and work by physically pulling fleas out of the fur. Start at the puppy's neck and part the fur, combing a section at a time until you have covered his whole body and removed all of the fleas. It's important to kill any fleas that you remov

Our two month old 1lb puppy has fleas. Is it safe to use a flea collar on her?
Flea collars do not work very well and some are toxic if ingested. I don't recommend using them on puppies, in case it falls off and the puppy tries to eat the collar. I recommend using a monthky product, like NexGard, Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution. You will also need to treat your house with an appropriate flea product.

Great question! I don't recommend using a flea collar, they aren't very effective and often cause skin problems. You can give her Capstar, which is a one time pill that starts killing fleas in 30 minutes. It is safe to give nursing mothers. Then follow up with Revolution. It's a spot on treatment that is also safe to use on nursing mothers. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash their bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house such as Indorex.. Make sure Miss Kitty and her kittens are away from where you sprayed the flea spray until it is completely dry. As for the kittens, they are too young for flea treatment and do not put anything on them. You can gently bathe them in warm water and Dawn dish soap, using a flea comb to get all the fleas out of their fur. Be sure to dry them completely so they don't get cold.

Is Seresto cat collar safe for my Nursing cat and her 3 week old kittens?
It's not specifically labeled as safe for nursing cats, so I would not use it. I recommend using Advantage, which is labeled as safe for use in nursing cats. It cannot be applied to Poofy's kittens, however. If they have fleas, you can safely use Frontline Spray on them. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

No, this is not safe to use on your dog. Revolution is a spot on flea treatment, and it is approved and safe for use in pregnant dogs. You can get this from your vet's office. I'd recommend using Capstar as well. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas in 30 minutes and is also safe to give pregnant dogs. Give her the Capstar to kill the fleas, and follow up with the Revolution. You will have to disinfect the environment as well. Wash her bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. Just keep her out of any room where you use Indorex or a flea bomb until the room is completely dried. I hope this helps!

It doesn't say it's safe for puppies on the packaging, so no I would not use it. It won't work anyway, these "natural" collars do nothing. I would apply Revolution on Princess. It's a spot on treatment that works great, and has been tested to prove it's safe on puppies six weeks of age. I hope this helps!

can I use a seresto collar on a pregnant cat?
Hello. The manufacturer recommends consulting your veterinarian before using the collar. Generally, this means that testing was never done on pregnant or lactating cats. It is probably safe, but if anything happens, the manufacturer will not take any responsibility. I recommend one of the Frontline products, even the newest one, Frontline Gold.
