Found a cat in my house, it's not eating and seems sick. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi, I found a cat in my flat, he/she had jumped through my window whilst I was out and has been here for around 5 hours. It is laying down and appears to be very subdued and not keen on going outside or on getting up. I have put tuna and water in separate bowls beside the cat, but it has touched neither one. Should I be worried/Need to take him to the vets/animal hospital?

From what you are describing, lethargy and a reduced appetite I would advise taking the stray into see a veterinarian. It could have an underlying medical condition, could have suffered an injury, or may be microchipped and belong to someone.
