My newborn kitten's anus looks red and closed. Is it a birth defect?

One of my cats kittens was born with an anus, but it looks redish and kinda like a scab. As though it was healing. It kind of looks closed like nothing could come out. I just noticed so im not sure if thats the case. Is it possible for his anus to be closed? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 7 days old

Yes it is possible that animals are born without an anus or a stricter region. These are called birth defects and usually means there was a problem with development. I would recommend taking the kitten to a veterinarian for an exam to assess what is going on. Hope that helps
