My guinea pig fell, leg dragging. Can I give aspirin for pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Other | Unknown - Other | Male | unneutered | 1lb

My daughter accidentally just dropped her Guinea pig from approx. 3 feet he landed on a wood floor immediately started to squeak non stop. We have settled him down but noticed his hind led is dragging. We have baby Aspirin 80 mg and noticed in a web article they suggested .05mg how do we know how much to give from the 80mg the medicine was for our dog. We do not live close to a vet the earliest I can bring him out is first thing tomorrow morning. Any suggestions in the mean time would be great.

Unfortunately, there will be no way for you to safely give aspirin to Bailey, so I do not recommend giving it. The small benefit she would get from it does not outweigh the risk of toxicity. The dragging of the leg may be due to nerve damage or a fracture. Nerve damage is generally not painful, but fractures are. However, if Bailey has a nice, comfortable place to lay, then she will be able to reduce the pain by not moving it too much. It's best to just give her some space and let her rest for now. If you are going to the vet tomorrow, then she will easily be able to make it until then if she is otherwise acting normal. I hope that helps and Bailey gets better soon.
