Pet's info: Dog | Shiba Inu | Female | spayed | 11 months and 12 days old | 15 lbs
We have an 11 month old Shiba Inu. Almost 3 months ago we brought home her 1/2 brother and her personality has changed. We are dealing with issues one at a time. They both sleep with us and over the last week, when we reach over to pet her she will growl and snap at us. Her teeth make contact with our skin, but it is not a hard bite, but it is a bite nevertheless. How can we address this poor behavior? What might be the cause?

Behavioral problems can be difficult problems to handle. The fact that your dog is now growling and snapping since the introduction of the new dog seems important to the equation. Most behavior problems are solved by making sure you use positive reinforcement when addressing the problem and may require steps to avoid them both sleeping on the bed together initially then graduating toward adjusting their activities such as feeding, playing, and socializing with strict attention to proper behavior. Your local veterinarian my have some resources to help such as training experts or behavioral specialist to assist you in the process of getting these two dogs well adjusted. Hope this helps. Thank you and good luck, Steve Popish, DVM
