My dog ate bacon and is throwing up pink. Is this a vet emergency?

Hello, my 11 month Maltipoo ate some bacon today about a 4 inch piece and began to throw up. She threw up the bacon and the egg she ate. She normally eats eggs and she's fine. Then she began throwing up yellow foam (bile) now it's turned pinkish.

Oh no, poor Sophie! It is concerning that her vomit is turning pinkish, and that can be a sign of blood. Vomiting blood is very serious. I will give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps, but if her vomit continues to be pinkish or gets redder, you need to rush her into a vet immediately. In the future, do not feed her bacon. It's too high fat for dog and causes pancreatitis. It's never recommended to feed a dog bacon or any pork products. I hope this helps! Home remedy: Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.

Hello, My puppy stopped vomiting over 5 hours ago. She is back to her normal state. She is trying to eat and chew everything. She was puking pinkish foam after eating some bacon this morning. Is it safe to feed her some boiled chicken and rice?
I would try to feed a real small amount of boiled chicken and rice. If she vomits again then she should be seen by a veterinarian. They may recommend X-rays and possibly blood work to help determine the cause. I hope Sophie improves soon. Thanks for using Pet Coach.

My dog ate half a package of raw bacon. What should I do o?
Ideally, she should be seen at the nearest veterinary ER. The doctors there can 8ndice vomiting via injection. This is most successful when done within 2 hours of ingestion. The bacon may cause stomach upset (vomiting or diarrhea) or, more seriously, it can cause pancreatitis (due to the fat content). Pancreatitis is painful and can be life threatening if not treated promptly. If a vet visit is not possible, withhold food for 24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts. If there is stomach upset, feed bland until symptoms resolve then transition slowly to the regular diet. Symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian include lethargy, persistent vomiting or diarrhea, loss of appetite or abdominal pain.

I would not repeat anymore peroxide. Since he has already ingested it, all you can do is wait to see if pancreatitis occurs. You can feed a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice to help minimize the work the pancreas and intestines have to do. You should monitor for further vomiting and diarrhea or a painful abdomen. If you notice any of these, then get him checked right away for pancreatitis

The color of the vomit could be caused by some blood (e.g. an injury in the esophagus) or coloring of the food he ate or severe inflammation somewhere in the gastrointestinal tract. Diarrhea and throwing up can have many causes. It is basically a problem with the stomach and intestines caused by a food over sensitivity, eating something that does not agree with the dog, intestinal parasites, bacterial infection, viral infection, the weather, food change, stress, etc.  I would fast Max for 24 hours and then put him on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to his regular food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the diarrhea or if the vomiting increases, or stays bloody, or if he gets lethargic, he needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.

My dog is throwing up pink frothy sick, is this serious?
It could be, the pink tinge might be blood, indicating that he has swallowed something that injured his throat or stomach or he has vomited so much his esophagus is irritated enough to bleed. Either way, I strongly recommend getting him in to see a vet right away, especially if the vomiting has been going on for some time.

Oh no, that's not good that Tootsie ate that bit of fat. You are right that it could cause her some GI upset in the form of vomiting or diarrhea. Of more concern is that this fat could cause pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas. I can give you a home remedy to try in case she does get some GI upset. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. I agree it's likely the bone causing Lola to vomit. Dogs should never been given cooked bones because they easily break in the GI tract, leading to perforation and obstruction of the GI tract. Because she vomited the bone up, I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Hi, if the second vomit was just pink tinged you could wait and keep an eye on her. If the vomit should continue, over the next hour, or if there was fresh blood (bright red), I would have Viole checked over at the emergency clinic. Hope this helps !
