If Jake cannot walk, jump, wag his tag, and cry if you pick him up, then yes he is in a lot of pain. This is very serious, and he should see a vet immediately. Dachshunds are prone to ruptured discs in their back due to their elongated spine, and that could certainly be the cause of his pain. He should be evaluated by a vet immediately, and needs pain medication as well. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. The vet can prescribe him safe pain medications. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.
