Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Buddy! Do not restrict water. If the diarrhea is severe (accidents in the house, asking to go our every few hours) then with hold food for 12-24 hours. You can then start a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20lbs per day until 2 days of normal stools. I am glad he is acting normally. Bring a stool sample with you to your appointment tomorrow. the Vet will likely recommend continuing the bland diet and probably will add Metronidazole. They may also want to do blood work due to his increased thirst. I hope this helps and I wish Buddy a speedy recovery!
