Why does my cat have recurring hard bumps and hair loss all over?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 3 months old | 10 lbs

As a young kitten he had tiny "hard seedy" feel bumps. I told neighbor it may be fleas. 2 1/2 yrs later he's my cat and those bumps are all over his body. He had patches of missing hair. I gave him good food an 3 weeks later the patches were all gone and gained wt. He was skin and bones. The bumps were drastically going away but now have returned. I've added to his good food because he loves smelly stuff though and he was outside 1 day and night. It's hard to see bumps. Clusters fm head to tail.

It sounds like Geronimo may have military dermatitis which is often an allergic reaction. This could be due to fleas or food allergy or environmental factors. I would recommend a veterinary visit to assess if he has any infection and get the appropriate treatment. Sometimes these cats may need antibiotics and/or steroids while trying to identify and eliminate the allergen. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/feline-miliary-dermatitis Good luck.
