My puppy ate gardenia roots. What happens if a dog eats gardenia?

My 12 week golden retriever ate some roots of gardenia plants, is this ok?

Gardenia may cause mild gastrointestinal upset or hives if ingested. If Stussy ate a small amount, you may not see any signs, larger quantities may warrant a visit to your veterinarian.
