My dog swallowed pillow stuffing. Should I worry if it's not passing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | 1 year and 4 months old | 55 lbs

Follow up from last question: if my dog did swallow some stuffing from the pillow she chewed up and I don't see it in her stool in 48+ hours should I be concerned? If she is acting normal by the end of the week and I haven't seen anything in her stool is that okay or does it mean it's stuck in her system and will continue to build up?

It can take up to 72 hours for the stuffing to pass, so I wouldn't be worried just yet. There are a couple of possibilities if you don't see any stuffing in Ella's feces: One, she didn't actually eat any. Two, it's moving very slowly through her GI tract. Three, it is stuck in her system. Keep monitoring her and her feces through the end of the week and she's acting normal, then I would suspect she didn't actually eat any of the stuffing. I would only be concerned if Ella stopped eating, become lethargic, and developed other symptoms such as diarrhea or constipation.
