My dog's paw has red, bleeding boils. Why aren't they going away?

Hello, my dog has developed some boil looking bald patches on her paw, I've been bathing them but tonight one was red and when I applied pressure it popped and started bleeding. Bleeding has stopped now but I'm just concerned that their not going away

It is concerning that these boils are not going away, and it's time to see a vet for them. I would not apply anymore pressure to them, and keep Nelly from licking them. Take her into the vet first thing Monday so the cause of the boils can be diagnosed and treated.

Thank you for providing pictures of Khenti's paw, it's very helpful. Yes, I see what you mean about the spots on his paws, and given how long they have been there and what they look like, I do not think this can wait two weeks until his annual appointment. I would see if you can get him into another vet in town or you may have to take him into an ER vet to get him seen sooner. I hope this helps.

Our dog has these boils on her feet. They are blood blisters and pop sometimes. We've given her fungal bathes, tried medicated spray, moisturising bathes, etc but they won't go away. She's always had some reactions in between her toes but it's worse.
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Dutchess. She may need to see a veterinary dermatologist if you are not having much luck with her regular veterinarian. Paws are commonly affected by allergic skin disease. This can be an environmental allergy or a dietary allergy. Some dogs suffer from both. I recommend allergy testing to environmental allergens such as weeds, pollens, grasses and molds specific to your area. She should also do a prescription diet trial for 8-12 weeks. She may require longterm management of her symptoms. However, reaching a diagnosis will make this easier. I hope this information helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Just like you indicated, this could be due to a foreign body getting stuck in the digit though other things like a deep infection or even a growth cannot be ruled out. It could even be secondary to her licking at it. For this reason, it is important to rule those out. I recommend a visit to your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Noticed yesterday some Kind of growth on dogs heel. It’s bleeding now . It’s prob size of ring finger nail.. not sure if it’s serous enough to bring her into vet..

This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. However, just like you pointed out, there may be a foreign body stuck in there or something else causing an infection. I recommend that you have Tank evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. Antibiotics can be started and they can also check to see if there is something stuck there that they can remove to provide comfort and also prevent the infection from reoccurring. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Bella! Based on your pictures that isn't a growth but a paw pad abrasion. I see it when the dog runs too much on asphalt or tennis courts chasing balls and skidding. I have seen multiple feet and multiple pads affected and peel like blisters. They heal quickly by preventing licking with an E-collar, soaking in Epsom salts, oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. I wish you and Bella the best!

Hi. That looks like a mass on that foot. It could be benign, or malignant. It is hard to tell from this picture. It could even be something as simple as mole/wart like mass. The way to know would be to have him examined by your veterinarian and have the perform a cytology. A cytology is looking at the cells of these masses at the microscopic appearance of cells, studying them especially for the diagnosis of abnormalities and malignancies. Good luck.

I noticed my dog had what looked like a small drop of blood on one of her front feet. After a closer examination it looks like a blood blister. Any idea of what it may be and what to do about it?
Ouch! That should likely be checked out by your vet in person. Tumors on the toes can aggressively appear and spread like this, and other issues such as burns, blisters, cysts, sores, infections, etc should be treated by your vet. They can take a sample of the affected tissue to look for the cause behind it, and provide treatment options such as removal, antibiotics, medicate shampoos, and more. Until you can get to your vet, it's best to keep the area clean and dry and to keep Bossy from licking at it with an Elizabethan (cone) collar. This can help reduce irritation.

Hi and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! If this sore has persisted and does not seem to be getting any better despite your efforts to manage it, I would recommend Ace see his veterinarian soon. Your veterinarian may take a small sample of the area to determine what it is and if it is concerning or not. Treatment will depend on what the diagnosis is. If your veterinarian suspects it is infected, Ace may need to be on antibiotics or other medications as needed. I hope this helps!
