My dog has itchy bumps and is scratching, but no fleas. What's wrong?

It could be poor Copper has hives, which are typically brought about by an allergic reaction. These would be very itchy for him. He needs medication to treat them if he has hives, which can only be gotten from a vet. I would bring him into a vet now so he can be treated. I hope this helps!

This is probably due to a severe allergy, although it could also be fleas or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat her with a high quality flea treatment (e.g. advantage), then get her to the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try discovering the cause of the allergy. Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair the skin lesions (steroids and antibiotics). simultaneously you should start her on a prescription hypoallergenic diet for at least 2 months. Hopefully you will see some results after all this, if not you and your vet should consider putting her on a long term allergy treatment (Atopica or Apoquel).

Copper most likely has allergic dermatitis. This can be due to inhaled (pollen), food, or contact (flea,grass) allergins. I typically give my patients an anti-inflammatory injection and/or antihistamines to make them less itchy. Antibiotics are usually necessary to get rid of the scabs and stinky skin. It usually takes 2-4 wks of antibiotic therapy to clear the skin infection (usually staph dermatitis secondary to allergies/itching). It is also a good idea to give your dogs with an oral flea/tick preventative. Copper will continue to itch until her skin is treated with antibiotics and cleared of scabs. If this becomes a chronic condition, there are several different medications she can be prescribed to help prevent her from itching and then getting a secondary staph infection. Leo's mass is not likely due to allergies. Your veterinarian could do a fine needle aspirate of the mass to rule out a lipoma (fatty benign tumor) versus other types of growths. These look like they could be hives (also known as urticaria). Hives most commonly form secondary to an allergic reaction. They are typically itchy although some dogs don't seem to be as affected as others. An allergic reaction is often treated with Benadryl and sometimes a corticosteroid and it would be best to see your veterinarian for a diagnosis. Sometimes an allergic reaction can progress and cause facial swelling - if you see this you should see an emergency veterinarian right away since the swelling could affect the nose and throat.

My 10 month old puppy just started getting these red bumps that looks like hives all over her back she's not itchy but more and more keep appearing
She could have a skin infection or an allergic reaction. Since they keep appearing, she should be examined by a vet for treatment. She may need an antibiotic, anti-histamine, or corticosteroid to help treat.

hi, i have a 6 year old maultese poodle that i recently rescued. We found a few ticks on him and we pulled them out with tweezers. But, we don’t know if he still has some in him because he has some pimple like bumps on his belly and he is always itch
Those bumps on Skippy's belly looks like nipples, which are a normal part of a dog's anatomy. As for being itching, the itching could be due to fleas, mites, ringworm, or allergies. If he isn't up to date on his flea treatment, I can give you one for him. First, I would give him Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. If he is up to date on his flea treatment, I recommend taking him into the vet for an exam today or tomorrow. The vet can do blood tests, skin scrapings, and use a Wood's lamp to diagnose allergies, mites, and ringworm. Once the cause of the itchin

Hello. This sounds like it might be an allergic reaction. This could result in swelling around the airways. If hives are present (raised, haired bumps about 1cm across), then I would suggest a visit to the vet for some medications. Good luck with your little one!

My dog is scratching a lot , he also nibbled at his back and paws. Could there be a real serious issue? I also noticed raised hair bumps on his snout.
It doesn't sound too serious. What is sounds like is fleas. If you don't have him on a good flea prevention (like Advantage II or Bravecto, etc) then I would suggest you start him on one ASAP. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Advantage-II-Flea-and-Tick-Monthly-Treatment-For-Extra-Large-Dogs-4-Treatments/37601740 You may also consider bathing him in this anti-itch shampoo. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poo Chevy! It is likely that the bumps are hives and Chevy is suffering from an allergic reaction. Sometime we never know the inciting cause but insects or environmental allergens are the most common, unless he is receiving medications or was recently vaccinated (in the last 24 hours). The standard treatment for hives is benadryl and steroids. Ideally you should have him seen by your Vet. My dog has bumps on his belly and is itchy it dont look like flea he is on flea meds his hair is coming out in spots what is this and can i get something from pet smart to heal it
Without seeing him, it is difficult to say definitively what may be happening. After fleas, consider mites or I faction (bacterial or fungal). Allergies or food sensitivities are also possibly. Keep the area clean and dry. Use an e-collar (cone) to prevent licking or chewing. If the bumps spread or the hair loss worsens, consider and exam with your veterinarian. Antibiotics or anti-histamines may be indicated. Discuss allergy testing, hydrolyzed diets and food elimination trials with your veterinarian.

My dog had what appears to be hive like bumps yesterday morning and even after Benadryl yesterday they are still apparent today and they are itchy for him. I attached a photo of the most prominent ones but he has them all over his back
Chewy may be having an allergic reaction. If it hasn't improved with Benadryl, he may need some injectable medications from the vet to get his symptoms under control. I recommend bringing him in right away.
