What protein and fat is best for my lightly active Cavalier?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | spayed | 5 years and 3 months old | 17 lbs

What would be better for my 17 pound cavalier, 20% protein, 10% fat or 25% protein and 13% fat? She's not typically active but does get regular walks most days.

Hi and thanks for your post! Since Chloe is lightly active, I would choose the lower protein option (20% verses 25%). Higher protein foods are more appropriate for working dogs and highly active dogs. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
