My puppy fell. Why is her tail not wagging or staying up now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 20 days old | 2.4 lbs

My puppy squirmed out of my hands and dropped to the floor. I feel very bad. She yelped a few times after falling. I have touched all her paws and body and nothing seems sore, she is playing and eating and drinking good, however I am worried because her tail is not wagging and up as usual, her tail stays down all the time now. She is a 10 week old Pomeranian Puppy

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I know you feel bad! We see this happen a lot, puppies and kittens are very squirmy! I would say that 98% of the time the puppies are fine. If she is walking well and not limping, is playing and eating I think she falls in to the category! She still may be a bit sore and that is why her tail isn't wagging. I would watch her closely and I bet she will be 100% very soon! I hope this helps and good luck!
