Why are kittens meowing under my house? Is their mom neglecting them?

A cat had kittens under our house we have no way of getting under there were feeding the mom but she seems to be ignoring them since they keep meowing all day should we be worried or should we trust she's taking care of them?

Yes, I would be worried in that excessive vocalization by the kittens can mean she isn't feeding them. If they aren't fed, they will die. I would call the local SPCA right now to see if they can send someone out to help you get the kittens out so they and their mom can be moved to a safe spot.

As long as the kittens are growing, seem healthy and are not meowing in hunger it is normal for the mother to leave them periodically. If you are concerned about weight gain or health of the kittens you could consider supplementing with kitten milk replacer. I would it advise this unless you are concerned however. Once the weaning process starts you can also provide kitten food for them.

Depending on the age of these kittens, they have to be fed quite frequently. Meowing a lot can be sign that they aren't getting enough to eat. I dont think my cat is producing enough milk to feed her four 3 week old kittens and 1 kitten in particular is walking around the bedroom meowing contantly and really loudly. I dont know what to do.
get some kitten milk powder and a feeding bottle from a pet shop or your veterinarian. mix the milk according to instructions on the tin and feed the kittens in addition to mummy feeding them. They should gain approx. 100g per week, ie they should weigh 300 grammes now at 3 weeks of age. If the kitten keeps meowing even after the additional feedings, it should be examined by a veterinarian. make sure you feed Sookie good quality cat food, preferably tinned food, pate style. you can also give her kitten food as she needs a lot of energy and protein to make an adequate amount of milk.

My cat turned 1 in November. She had 4 kittens about 3 weeks ago. We got them a cat house because she is an outdoor cat. She has been meowing a lot more and tries to run in the house and explore the closets or run downstairs. Not sure if this is norm
She feels that her kittens may be safer in the house. She might want to move them from thee cat house. Can you bring the cat house close to the house or inside or on your porch (if you have one?)?. She will also now need to eat kitten food, which is more nutritious than her normal food.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sometimes the mother knows when something is wrong with a newborn kitten and will take it off somewhere. It is hard to know why some kittens do not thrive, also called "Fading Kitten" syndrome. There is likely some genetically wrong or a health issue with this kitten. You can have the baby examined by a vet, but a lot of times they appear normal and still do not survive. You can start bottle feeding it and take it away from the mother and see if it will thrive. Mom thinks this is a safe place, and they will be fine there. Try to make sure she has access to fresh food and water and they'll be fine. Take them in for deworming and vaccinations at 6-8 weeks.

Hi there Your kittens need to be seen by a vet. It sounds like they've either contacted an illness (viral, bacterial, parasitic) or that they aren't receiving enough food. Kittens need to eat kitten milk every hour or so to keep up with their energy demands. I would get them to a vet ASAP to help them and find out what's going on.

My cat gave birth to kittens a few days ago and yesterday night she moved them outdoors somewhere i don't know. but she still searches the kittens indoors. is it possible that she has forgot where she kept the kittens?
Unfortunately, this is possible. She also may have placed them somewhere outside where the kittens were susceptible to predators. Kittens will not survive long on their own, so depending on how long they may have been without their mother, this situation could be dire. I would spend some time searching the property and the surrounding neighborhood to see if you can find anything that looks like a nesting area. If you can, try and move the kittens back to somewhere that is safe for both them and the mom. Hope this helps.

I would be concerned too. I would recommend an examination with a veterinarian. They will likely want to take an x-ray to make sure there are no remaining fetuses in her uterus. This could be life threatening if there is. I hope she improves quickly and can enjoy those babies. Take care.

Unfortunately all you can do it put a teaspoon on honey on it's gums for now. This kitten does have to see a vet now, or it's likely going to die especially since the mother won't feed it. Tell your parents you spoke to a vet who urge them to take the kitten into a vet immediately.
